I actually liked the story though I knew the premise from the start. I found the handling of the story hybridized some story lines from Tales from the Crypt and Defending Your Life. Yet the approach was fresh. The ending was a surprise because it did not take the obvious course and there were some minor twists that I had not seen before. I won't reveal them because I want to encourage others to read it.
I am interested in reading more from Jonathan Kent and do recommend not only the story but the author.

The author’s writing style is good; however, I abandoned this short story because of the vulgar language.

This is an evcellent story. The author is very talented. I plan on checking out some of his other work.
That was a great story. A little creepy, it kind of put me in mind of Twilight zone. I hope he continues to write good books.
Kent's story, reminiscent of episodes from both the old Twilight Zone series and it's modern counterpart, Black Mirror, used an oldie-but-goodie trope in a new way, which made for a quick and enjoyable read. I'll definitely check out more of his work.
Jonathan Kent is one of my new favorite authors. This book was very short, left a LOT of loose ends...entire novels in the future? I was hooked, line, and sinker from page one.
What a great short story to make you think about life and what you . Not to give too much away this is not a new story line but this is none the less a good read. In a story of very important thought and 'reason' there are times of laugh out loud events or statements. Be ware that ALL things you do will have a meaning. Silly fly...where is that swatter - wait.. I'll just let you outside!
'The Waiting Room' is a suspenseful short story that builds up slowly to a surprise ending. The author effectively establishes a strong sense of curiosity and anticipation that grows to a profound crescendo as the truth of Gary Simpson's situtation is revealed. There were some nice twists in the story development, aided by subtle details that suddenly became relevant as the story progressed. I enjoyed the story and the deep sense of ironic humour with which it is loaded.

This thought-provoking story is easily read and enjoyed in under an hour, which makes it an ideal read for busy readers or a great filler for a lunchtime break.
